Polybutylene (PB) pipes were used in residential homes and commercial buildings in the United States from 1978 to the mid-1990s.

Polybutylene pipes, also known as gray plastic pipes, can cause a number of problems, including:

Leaks

Chemical leaching

Flaking and peeling

Stress fractures
