Rusted Ductwork?

Uninsulated and rusted ductwork can cause a number of problems, including:

  • Corrosion: Condensation that forms on metal ductwork during the summer can cause rust, which can eat holes into the metal and cause leaks.

  • Mold and mildew: Poorly sealed ducts can lead to excess moisture, which can cause mold and mildew to grow. This mold can spread throughout your home and can be circulated when your heating or air conditioning is running.

  • Energy inefficiency: Air leakage through unsealed ducts can cause your HVAC system to work harder to maintain the desired temperature, which can lead to higher energy consumption and utility bills.

  • Uneven comfort: Air leakage can also cause uneven temperature distribution.

  • Decreased comfort: As ductwork deteriorates, it can lead to reduced comfort.
