Fireplace Cracks or Dad Joke?

During a home inspection, a professional will typically only perform a basic visual check of the fireplace, looking for obvious signs of damage like cracks, holes in the firebox, or a non-functional damper, but they won't conduct a thorough internal inspection of the chimney as this requires specialized equipment and expertise best left to a dedicated chimney sweep; essentially, a home inspector will only check what is readily visible and accessible without needing to dismantle parts of the fireplace or chimney.
