New construction doesn't mean "perfect". Flashing edition.

Even on brand-new homes, the smallest details can lead to the biggest headaches. During today’s inspection, I found several critical areas where Z-flashing and joint flashing were missing on composite siding.

Why Does This Matter?

Siding is designed to shed water, but flashing is what actually directs that water away from your home's structural framing. Without it:

Wall Penetrations: Water can seep behind light fixtures, leading to electrical shorts or hidden rot.

Horizontal Joints: Where two panels meet, moisture can get trapped, causing the composite material to swell and degrade.

Z-Flashing: This is the first line of defense above windows, doors, and trim. Without it, gravity pulls water directly into your wall cavity.

The Bottom Line

Water management is the most important "hidden" system in your home. Catching these omissions now—before the drywall is up or the mold starts growing—saves thousands in future repairs.

Whether it’s a 50-year-old classic or a fresh build in Lowell, Farmington, or Tontitown, don’t skip the professional eyes.

Missing the Mark! 🚫

Close, but no cigar. 🙅‍♂️ This "new" attic is falling short on insulation. 8 inches just doesn't cut it for our Southern heat. Healthy Home and Mold Inspections on Google https://posts.gle/bA5CSuKAUy
